Yes, a new application must be submitted each school year to qualify for free or reduced priced meals. Nutrition Services provides a 30-day carryover period in which the household's eligibility status carries over from the previous school year for the first 30 days of the new school year. This provides households with time to submit an updated application.

Research has shown that school meals are the healthiest meals children eat in a day! The school meal nutrition standards require schools to offer students the right balance of fruits, vegetables, low-fat or fat-free milk, whole grains, and protein foods. Smart Spoon Café at LCSD1 prides themselves in providing a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables and a variety of entrées. Many of our menu items are homemade including our famous chili and cinnamon rolls and we are working to add more homemade items every year!
